Meetups: Another about the Las Vegas Invasion It's very likely I'm going to come to the LV meetup. In fact, I'll make the arrangements on Mon or Tue if I can get stuff sorted out. But I need some help and to know a bit about what people have planned. And the days when most people will be there.

[More:]

The biggest reason I didn't go to Bunnystock, even though I really wanted to, was concerns about how much I'd have to walk and how much stuff was planned that I wouldn't be able to participate in.

So what will the Vegas meetup be like? What are people planning to do? What are people planning to do together? And where should I stay?

The last question seems like the answer is "Barbary", as essexjan, jonmc, and pips are already booked there, and I'm hoping that TPS and her boi are staying there, as well.

On the off-chance that my uncle will be in town I might stay at the Palms, even though it's off the strip, because my uncle is good friends with the owner. That would have its advantages, although I'm probably dreaming that I could take advantage of this family connection.

And I hope that we could gather enough momementum here in the last month to convince those on-the-fence to come. I'd especially love to meet mataildaben and scody—I'm pretty excited that scarabic's going to be there. Of course I'd be thrilled to meet any and all the rest of you wonderful bunnies.
Ok, here's my promise:

If my life is on track, and I have finished my degree, and I have a job by September which does not start until October, and I have a place to live and am moved in, and I can put together money for a hotel + gas and other travelling expenses, I'll take two weeks and ride my motorcycle out to Vegas and back for bunnyvegas. Because when the fuck ever am I going to have this chance again?

Don't even put me down as a maybe, though, or you'll jinx it.

Oh wow, this just gets better and better.

kmellis, I arrive Tuesday 19 Sept and leave on Tuesday 26 Sept. But I will be joined by other non-bunny friends from Ohio for most of that time and I think there is a plan for us to visit the Grand Canyon prior to the bunny weekend.

The initial plan, I think, was to have a party at TrishaLynn's parents' timeshare place, but as she isn't now coming to Vegas, we'll have to make alternative plans, I guess. There are Vegas residents who will be able to help us with suitable venues, etc.

As jon, pips & TPS are flying in on Thursday, I would expect there to be get-togethers on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday for brunch. Unless we all hate each other and are not speaking by Thursday evening.

As I am not a drinker, I may not be up for several nights of partying, but would be happy to do something else - a show or a museum + dinner?

The Barbary Coast is very central, and not too large. Prices are reasonable.

Eid, get your shit togther and get on that bike. That's an order!

Here are some of the things we might like to do in Vegas: indoor skydiving, eating out at nice restaurants, rides/tourist attractions, watching weddings at an Elvis wedding chapel, shows, musuems, dancing. I'm not a big drinker or a big gambler.

Not sure yet where we're staying- I would really like to go somewhere with a pool, so the Barbary might not be the place for us. We'll get it nailed down in the next day or two.

Or right now- we're staying at the MGM Grand Thursday and Friday night, and with fellow Mechazen mischief on Saturday night.

I think I may be able to afford the flight there after all, as the prices aren't as bad as I anticipated (somewhere around 300 - 400 bucks). If I do make it, I would probably need to crash in someone's hotel room or definitely split the cost of one otherwise. I'm going to ask my boss if I can take a day off for it (it seems crazy to fly all the way down there on a friday night and leave on a sunday night).

Actually, SassHat, that Friday-Sunday itinerary is by far the most common for Vegas visitors.

One warning about Vegas (even though I'm still not going) is that you will be walking EVERYWHERE. And should everyone decide to have a meal at one of the casinos, it's a long walk to get from the front door of the casino to where the actual restaurants are because all the casinos want you to spend your money at the slots and tables.

I say you should rent one of those nifty electric scooter dealies for the weekend to cope. There may also be wheelchair/scooter accessible taxis or car services that can help get you from meeting spot to meeting spot.
