Trying out some Opera No, not the music... [More:] I downloaded Opera 9.01. I am worried that as Firefox has hit over 200 million downloads, it will become a target for knobbos who wanna mess with my machine. Plus, Firefox seems a little slower in recent updates.

So, now, I am trying out Opera, but miss a couple of things:
1) I want my bookmarks toolbar! Does Opera have one?
2) I want the tabs toolbar UNDER the Address Toolbar. Anyone know how to pull that off?

I know I can probably find these answers elsewhere, but I thought it might be cool to see what other mechazens like about Opera, what the must-have widgets are and so on. Any advice from current Opera users?
I don't know. But hi.

1) Click on the pulldown menu that you type URLs into. Your bookmarks should be there, along with the "home" button.

richat, are you running Mac? You should look into Camino, its based on the same engine as Firefox but is purpose written for the Mac and is really very quick. But it doesn't have all those wonderful (and processor hungry) extensions.

And if you're not on a Mac then I'm afraid we can't be friends anymore. Just kidding!

I am not running a Mac, no...I run XP on intel at work and XP on AMD at home. I still feel handcuffed on Macs, probably because I do know XP fairly well given my job. Put me on a mac and I just feel like a (gasp!) enduser.

If I click on the pulldown in the address bar, cmonkey, all I see is the last urls I entered manually. Could be a Opera in windows thing maybe.

Sorry, I didn't mean "click on the pulldown menu", just click on the area where you type. A new box should pop up beneath the text field. Works for me in both Windows XP and Linux.

Oh, another thing you can do is:

1) Right click on any of those toolbars and select "Customize"
2) Tick the "Personal bar" box
3) Remove the items you don't want by right clicking and selecting remove
4) Go to Bookmarks->Manage Bookmarks
5) Drag any of those bookmark folders up to the personal toolbar.

Just tried that in Linux and it worked. If you want one-click access to a page, drag the icon that's next to the URL up to the personal toolbar, and it'll be there. Opera's very customizable once you get your mind out of the Firefox gutter.
