Homeowner tracks down toilet-paper prank suspects using store receipts, surveillance tapes, yearbooks and online databases. The suspects now face felony vandalism charges. Video. [via waxy]
Huh. Pretty soon there won't be much need for police work. Anyone with enough intelligence and determination can find culprits on their own.

I wish I'd had some kind of clue to go on and been able to track down the thieves who broke into my apartment.

"...but Base was on a roll." Pun intended, I'm sure.

I found it bizarre that the store let this woman have access to their video tapes.

That Mom must have learned her sleuthing techniques from reading Nancy Drew, The Hardy Boys, The Bobbsey Twins and The Three Detectives!

I wish I could fingerprint every cigarette butt, drink cup and beer bottle I find in my front yard and track down the litterbug shitheels.

I could never be friends with that woman. Imagine if you made some sort of faux pas and, like, didn't praise her chocolate chip cookies highly enough. Can you imagine the revenge?

Well, they thought the whole thing was pretty funny until they discovered their cars had been fucked up and their propery broken. Sounds like a pretty good reason to get pissed off to me. Plus they didn't actually get any revenge, just justice.

I agree with Puke & Cry, this couple sounds like they were ready to laugh it off. And they brought their daughters out to play, which is also a great life lesson-to make the best of things, and laugh often. However, when it turned out to be so serious, I also admire her tenacity. Too many times things like this just get pushed off and ignored. I'm glad she got her justice.

I thought it was an overreaction too until I realized the extent of the damage done. And the mess. 144 rolls of toilet paper! Can you imagine how big a mess that must have been? I'm glad those jerks were caught.

If it had been just toilet paper, I would have laughed it off. But destruction of property? You bet I would've called the cops.

And I'm with icnomy - it is weird the grocery store let the woman have access to surveillance tapes.
