THIS IS A SHOUTING THREAD! FUCKING INSURANCE COMPANIES!→[More:]
I HAD SURGERY IN JANUARY, RIGHT? I GOT A BILL BACK IN APRIL FROM THE HOSPITAL. I WAS ALL, WTF? TWO WEEKS LATER, I HAD DISCOVERED THAT MY REFERRAL FROM MY PCP TO MY ORTHOPAEDIC SURGEON HAD EXPIRED AND NOBODY (NOT THE PCP, NOT THE OS, NOT THE HOSPITAL) BOTHERED TO TELL ME BEFORE I WENT IN FOR SURGERY. ANYWAY, I DID WHAT THE INSURANCE COMPANY TOLD ME TO DO, WHICH WAS TO GET A BACKDATED REFERRAL FROM MY PCP AND HAVE IT FAXED TO THE HOSPITAL, WHO WOULD RESUBMIT IT. AT THAT POINT, I THOUGHT IT WAS ALL TAKEN CARE OF.

NO SUCH LUCK. I GOT A BILL THIS WEEKEND FOR $1800. CALLED THE HOSPITAL. CALLED MY INSURANCE COMPANY. NOW THEY'RE TELLING ME THAT THEY DON'T "NORMALLY" ACCEPT BACKDATED REFERRALS AND THAT I NEED TO HAVE MY PCP FAX IT DIRECTLY TO THEM AND MAYBE THEY'LL ACCEPT IT. HUH?????

FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK. I DON'T HAVE A GOOD FEELING ABOUT THIS. THEY TOLD ME I COULD APPEAL IF IT WASN'T ACCEPTED. GEE, THANKS.

ALL THIS BECAUSE MY ORTHOPAEDIST'S OFFICE COULDN'T BE BOTHERED TO SAY "OH, HEY, MIKE, YOU MIGHT WANT TO CALL YOUR PCP BECAUSE THE DATE ON THIS REFERRAL HAS ALREADY PASSED."

I know it's a huge hassle and stress, but my understanding, which may be outdated, is that it all starts with the PCP referral. If the PCP was willing to backdate a referral, everything else should fall into place, once you jump through the proper hoops. Again, who knows for sure, but keep fighting on this one.

Yeah, I know rainbaby. It's just that I've already gone through this once, and it took two weeks of headaches. The PCP was more than willing to do whatever was necessary. And, upon reflection, my anger at the insurance company was misguided. It's not their fault, really. They can only work with what they are given. The OS office really should have noticed and mentioned when they submitted my referral that it was out of date.

FUCKING BANKS. I TRANSFERRED MONEY YESTERDAY MORNING FROM MY SAVINGS AT ONE BANK TO MY CHECKING ACCOUNT AT ANOTHER BANK, AND IT IS STILL NOT THERE YET, BUT THE MONEY IS GONE FROM MY SAVINGS ACCOUNT. GD GREEDY BANKS. MY RENT IS DUE TODAY AND MY RENT CHECK IS GOING TO BOUNCE LIKE A RED RUBBER BALL.

WHO EVER INVENTED THE FUCKING PROPOLIS THROAT SPRAY SHOULD BE SHOT! SHOULD THAT PERSON BE DEAD, A TIME-MACHINE SHOULD BE INVENTED TO GO BACK IN TIME AND SHOOT HIM (IT MUST HAVE BEEN SOME STUPID BLOKE WHO INVENTED IT). REALLY. SEE, MY THROAT'S BEEN BURNING SINCE THIS MORNING AND I JUST SPRAYED SOME OF THIS STUFF IN MY THROAT AND GODDAMMIT GODFUCKINGDAMMIT GODDAMN SHIT IT BURNS!

Really, I hope I get better soon. It looks a bit like an early stage of tonsillitis and I'm really scared of this thought as I've already had it twice this year and I really don't want to go through this again.

FUCKING WATER COMPANY. WE MISPLACED A BILL, AND ENDED UP BEING FIFTY MEASLY DOLLARS OVERDUE. SO WITHOUT SO MUCH AS A PHONE CALL OR A NOTE ON THE DOOR, THEY SHUT OFF OUR WATER. TWO FILTHY SUMMERTIME KIDS + TWO SWEATY SUMMERTIME ADULTS + 1 NON-FUNCTIONING TOILET = MISERY. BASTARDS.

I don't think they can legally shut off your water without several warnings. Maybe it varies by state.

Hmm. That's worth looking into -- if only to prevent them from doing the same thing to others. We were apparently even home when the guys came out to shut it off. If they'd just knocked on the door, we would have paid up right then and there.

I can't complain about my insurance company. We got the bill today for the wee one's surgery and it was $35,000. Thank god, thank god, thank god we have insurance to cover it all. My heart breaks for all the people who don't. Universal health care!!!

THE SORT ROOM AIR CONDITIONING IS FUCKING BROKEN, STILL! I SORTED 2000 PIECES OF PRODUCT IN 90 DEGREE HEAT TODAY, AND NOW I CAN HARDLY STAND UP.
