'case you don't visit MeTa much, you should stop by and check this out.
Now when I said it's getting like slashdot over there except when there are flashes of brilliance, this is an example of why that view makes me an idiot. Most of the flashes of brilliance come from the users, but every now and then No. 1 pulls a (what do they have?) out of the hat. AxMe was fantastic, but I predict this will be even better. Go Matt.

Yeah it is the bomb. I've almost listened to every one.

*mashes up "body of dead chihuahua" with "funk my wagnalls" in his mind, slowly goes mad ... but in a happy sort of way*

I have a feeling that this feature will be abused heartily in the next 72 hours. And I will step back in to say "this is why we can't have nice things."

You mean by regular (current) members? Uploading illegal or nonsense files? Or something hackerly?

Ya, like I said in the thread there I have a lot of little concerns about how it's going to work but I can only assume Matt's thought about it a wee bit more than I have at this point, & I'm not up for doomsaying just yet.

First, I can easily see (a handful) of current members wanting to jump on the bandwagon and either submitting total crap, things that aren't their work (but are obscure enough not to be filtered out), or some sort of gag on the site as a whole (ie: "Sounds of me scratching my ass at 11:30").

I can also see self-linker types signing up just to use the music option. Every teeny bopper who isn't getting enough hits on Myspace Music could theoretically join and start spamming their tunes on there. That's why I asked in the MeTa what the rules for noobs using it were. There should be some sort of probation period for new members like there is for posting FPPs and the like, only much, much longer.

I take total credit for this. Even though it was over a year ago, I still insist on taking credit.

Off topic, but MeTa is the first thing I read. That's where all the juicy stuff is at.

I've been working like a dog lately, but I just happened to check MetaChat this morning and saw this so I perhaps hastily uploaded the only MP3 my band has available.

If the project goes south that'd be a bummer because right now this is so very neat. And, not just for people who make music, but as a listener and member of that site it's just plain fun to hear other folks' music.

Thanks, Iconomy. ;)
now, sadly, back to working slavishly...

Oh Sasshat, you slay me once again. I am not supposed to bust out laughing at my desk for no reason, everyone looks at me then... SO STOP MAKING ME LAUGH OUT LOUD AND SNORT COFFEE OUT OF MY NOSE ALREADY!!!

Okay, it's a cliche and all, but I have a thing for boys with guitars. Therefore, I just developed about 612 new crushes. Consider yourself warned, y'all.
