Ask the bunnies: Is there a way to disable the annoying "downloads completed" smooth-scrolling popup thingy in FireFox?
I hate it. I hate it so much. Such a stupid, pointless and annoying waste of my meager cpu cycles. It seriously bogs my machine down something fierce.
It takes me less time to download most files, manually go to the folder and confirm it's all there than it does for the popup to begin scrolling up and down on my poor old P3.
True (default): popup window at bottom right corner of the screen will appear once all downloads are finished.
False: the popup window will not appear.
No, thank you for finding the right info. I'm still using Mozilla, so knowing how to disable things in Firefox that I find annoying is very useful. (I've got the latest version of Firefox installed, but I'm too busy chasing kids off my lawn and reminiscing about Mosaic to take the time needed to move everything over and re-learn my browsing habits).
I have no idea, as it is one of about three dozen extensions that I use and Firefox leaks memory like a seive anyway. But I can't imagine that it alone would cause much of a RAM increase, certainly no more than opening the stock download manager window.
