What is CNN's fixation with 'kin' lately? →[More:]
From the CNN front page:
'Victim's kin leaps bench to beat murder suspect'
'Docs let kin watch family take last breath in ER'
Okay CNN, I get it. 'Kin' is shorter than 'family', but give me a break. Have the Hatfields and McCoys rewritten the CNN style guide or what? Let me point out that in the first article, it's the victim's uncle doing the jumping. In that case, 'Victim's uncle jumps stand to beat murder suspect' is a lot more informative, albeit three letters longer. In the second case, it reads like Big Momma and the Sloppy Moutain Jug Band are being ushered into the operating room, straw hats in hand. Or do they simply mean, 'Doctors let families watch loved ones' last moments'? Come on CNN, let's stop this hillbilly crazy talk.
