There's this old Defenders comic which has our merry band of radioactive deviants, sorcerers and sword wielding chicks in some sort of alternate earth or something where there's these wierdly colored humans with wings enslaved by reptilian (or amphibian) ugly things. I remember an image of one of the winged beauties dancing in a golden cage for the enjoyment of the uglies.
If anybody can give me issue and volume numbers, or even years, they would become unto gods and their names would ring down through the ages.

Okay. I've no time at work to give specifics, but whenever I have a need to research the covers and general stories of backissue comics, I turn to the storehouse that is Mile High Comics.

Their Defenders inventory starts with 1.

Late '70s? I think I remember that story arc. And tetsuo's cover looks familiar, too.

shane: yeah, late 70´s, I think. Tetsuo's frogmen do not ring a bell, alas. There might have been a parallel storyline where some of the Defenders stayed on earth and battle a Baboonish supervillian who can control his pheromones.

..the guys on the board think its the Tunnelworld saga.
