my cat died →[More:]

They called a few minutes ago and said she died in her sleep. The vet that is in now is a different one from last night. She said that they agreed Bear probably had brain damage, most likely starting from a virus and that because she was already on antibiotics there was probably nothing else that could have or would have been done to help her. Not that it makes me feel any better.

Sympathy and hugs. I've been through this myself twice, so I have some idea how you might feel. Take your time to grieve, and don't let anyone tell you "she was just a cat."

Sorry to hear that, weretable. I lost my cat to old age a few weeks back, and lost another one to an ex a few months back. I need cats to make me right in this world. I think a lot of us do.

What I mean to say is that cats are part of the family. I do think people are important, too.

and that because she was already on antibiotics there was probably nothing else that could have or would have been done to help her. Not that it makes me feel any better.

She just doesn't want you to beat yourself up over stuff you could have done differently, because there probably wasn't anything. At least that way the grief isn't wrapped up with guilt. Again, I'm really sorry.

And, it's been three and a half years, but I still keep the page I did for D.C. up. I'm glad I did it, and I recommend the process to any other pet owners who are grieving - remember them, in pictures and words, or in whatever medium you are most comfortable with, because the concrete memories you construct will last even longer than thoughts.
