the Cannes Grand Prix Winner Best ad in the world this year is Guinness - Evolution / Noitulove. It's just gossip still down in Cannes, where the Lions are awarded (it's much like the filmfestival) since it won't be announced and official until tomorrow night. →[More:]But you know I'm right. I got me some sources mate! Whenever a name flies around the croisette on Friday, you know it's true - this year that name is "Guinness!" crossposted here on me ad-obsessed site cause I'm just dying to spread the gossip! Gossip gossip!

I'd agree it's a fine ad. I'd like to see all of them up for the award - any idea if they're up on the web anywhere?

When it comes to advertising gossip, I always believe you, dear bitchiepoo. This Cannes Ad Festival has gotten more web attention this year than ever before (at least it got MY attention). Leo Burnett Budapest has a whole bunch of the commercials with a rating scale (and Guinness is NOT one of the top rated there). I was tempted to post about it on MeFi, but I knew it'd just get a "commercials? blecch!" response.

Heh. Yeah, I got them all. But it might not be your cup of tea to join for the archive - so point your browser to Leo Burnetts predictions instead. I didn't see Miracle of life in their predictions though, that was shortlisted too. Could never win with a gag like that no matter how funny it was. Not the Grand Prix anyway. Gold maaaaaybe.

I think of "bitchiepoo" as my homage to Sid & Marty Krofft, db.

"Miracle of Life"? WTF? I knew if I watched enough of those Cannes commercials, I be exposed to anus...

My faves: "March of the Emperors" on page 3,
"Crash Test" on page 5,
all three Bangkok Insurance on page 6 ("Tyre" my first choice),
and the Smirnoff "noitulovE" on page 12.

Of the US ones I'd already seen, I most like the Ameriquest "Doctor" on page 7.

And my first choice for "not funny, just sweet" is "Old Peoples Home" (Norsk Lotto) on page 6.

I liked the Love Story one, because it was so long, and quirky. 'Gay, Pregnant, Son' was good for a chuckle and 'Crash Test' was great - the French know how to make baguettes!
Hated 'Monster', except for the unintentional relationship between the monsters destroying the city and large gas-guzzing cars destroying the planet. (ok, they're not /really/, but you know what i mean.)

That is funny, that's *exactly* what I thought when I saw Monster the first time! It makes no sense.

Love story is an Epic movie - ho wmany seconds is that thing? Wow.
