PostSecret on fathers.
I totally dig PostSecret, but I also wonder about it. The level of artistic-ness in the card production always seems somewhat suspicious. People really work hard on those. Does the idea basically appeal just to arty types, or are there a bunch of simple plain postcards that don't make the cut and appear on the site?

Considering that the amount of postcards has stayed fairly constant every week since the site began I suspect that there are a fair amount they don't show.

Especially since they keep pimping their shows as having "never before seen postcards!!". (Which to me just sounds terribly crass when compared with the supposed goals of the site to share and heal. The commercial aspect just rubs me the wrong way.)

They don't all make the cut. I remember hearing that only a small number get published these days.

I really love the project, and don't mind if the guy is turning it into a living.

I saw the book in a store a few weeks ago, and read it cover to cover... then bought it anyway.

This is the first I've heard of this site. Now I'm ordering the book. They are all strangely well written and poignant. I'm hooked anyway.
