Should I hug you? If I come to a meetup and finally get to meet you, can I give you a squeeze? Or would it weird you out to have a stranger touch you? Are you a "hugger"?

I am not a hugger, but I live in Berkeley and have had to adapt to a hugging culture. So- either way.

There should be some sort of code for this thing.

I may not get said hint. I may just hug you anyway, and there isn't a damn thing you can do about it. You will like it!

Actually I prefer a hug to a handshake, because people don't know their own handshake strength, or else are trying to show how strong they are, and my hand (which has damanged tendons anyway) has been hurt innumerable times in this way.

I want to be a hugger, but for some reason I seem to feel uncomfortable with hugging. Except for my wife and daughters. It's weird. Why can't I just hug?

I would be quite offended if you didn't hug me. And then maybe something to do with duct tape.

I'm kind of a touchyfeely sort, but not overbearingly... I only touch if I have real feelings of affection, and I wouldn't feel that way towards someone who didn't feel something like that for me. Several people have told me that they hate being touched, but loved it from me, so I pretty much trust my instincts.
