Temporarily homeless owner (on welfare and with a 10- to 12-yr-old daughter.) TONS of complications (for a rescue group and me), as we were afraid at first she was breeding them for money (when she can hardly support herself and mommy dachshund needs lots of food, plus puppy milling = bad), we were afraid for her child's welfare (kid doesn't seem well-fed sometimes and is a little slow), etc etc. Things seem okay now, although the lady is having trouble keeping an apartment. At least she and her daughter aren't sleeping on an unheated porch in the cold, as they were for a while, and all the dogs seem healthy. The rescue group and I are taking care of getting them all (adults and pups) vetting, including (finally!) spay and neuter for mom and dad.

Life is an adventure, always more complex than you think.

I was joking.
But awwwwww, indeed, on the pups. My mom a couple of months ago adopted a long haired daschund that was about to get run over on the freeway feeder ramp. Poor thing had lost all his hair due to malnutrition, eyes were bad, skin was a mess, etc. etc. He's now back in excellent health and is the most well-behaved dog (unless he sees someone getting in a vehicle, he MUST go for a ride with them!) I've ever dealt with. Even my kitty likes him.

He's a boy though, so no nipple shots.
