World cup update (spoiler inside)→[More:]England are fucked. That is all.
So, for World Cup teams, the country name is considered plural? Yeah, I've heard team names like The Jazz treated as plural, but I always thought footyball* orgs like Manchester United got the singular treatment.
I am such a dumb American. Can't even figure out the grammar of footyball*.
*my own way of differenciating it from North American Football or NAFball...
Owen got hurt for real, about 12 minutes in. Haven't seen further updates on his status, but he's receiving actual treatment... not "stand on the sideline for 7 seconds" treatment.
Hate to see a guy get injured, but perhaps England are better off without him; Owen's play has been nothing short of miserable this Cup, and none of his teammates have seemed to want to give him the ball anyway.
