Bump. Bunny Debunkathon. Wiki dat shit.
Hah, I was just wondering if I should bump this, but I wasn't sure if it'd be too much if I did it.

Awesome stuff.

Someone should spotcheck my math on question # 355: the "Million rats in 18 months" one.

OK, who's using bbedit code for their entries?
posted by GeckoDundee 20 June | 07:40
I dunno, but the standard, basic wiki remark syntax I used seems to have broken somehow in my answer to 355.

Also, someone's had the edit locked for 28 minutes and counting.

Edits should probably be done offline in textpad or something and pasted when ready to preview and save and all that.

Did you do 346 & 347 as well? It works, but it breaks the style. I was thinking of the "Leave it to Beaver" posts (58 & 59), which were really messed up with the square brackets.

And I do totally suck at maths, so someone else will have to check your answer for you. Should you even be answering your own questions? Should you steal the lock on someone who might be minutes away from answering all of the remaining questions? These tricky moral issues, and more, will all be answered in next week's exciting episode of MetaTalk.

I just love this project; it should be getting attention elsewhere.

One thing I love about it that quite often it shows that the trivia item is neither really true nor really false, just vastly oversimplified or stated superficially.

84.64.152.113 has now had the edit lock for 110 minutes... unless someone posts here to tell me to stop in the next 10 minutes, I'll remove the lock and open it back up again.

Blag, maybe you should put a line about that at the top of the page... that while you have the edit window open no one else can add anything.

I know that yesterday I didn't realize that's how it worked until at some point when I got locked out, and then I was embarrassed by how much time I must have had others locked out.

I didn't do those. I'm not super familiar with wiki code so hopefully someone who is can clean that up and bring it back in line with the easily readible format.

Should you even be answering your own questions?

Heck yeah. Why should you guys have all the fun? :) They aren't my questions, anyway. That whole list is actually some lame ass and totally prolific email forward or something.

I actually found my version through... ack... Fark. And I started questioning how many of them were true, and how many I just accepted as fact.

I did the rat one 'cause I like rats and it made me think to do the math, and long ago I had an accidental school-age first hand experience with how rapidly rats do reproduce when I brought home a pregnant girl rat from the pet store.

I hate math and avoid doing it as much as possible, which is why I'm hoping someone can check it for me, and why I included the rat gestation info. Oddly, the acres of pizza one was also a math problem, but easier than the ratty one.

It needs to be compartmentalized, so that you can edit a block of ten at a time or something. Me editing #25 should have no bearing on you editing #341.
posted by Eideteker 20 June | 11:16
If that's possible, blag would have control of that.

I'd recommend just grabbing whatever ones you want, composing your answer offline, checking for updates, then posting your answers or adding to the existing ones, then saving.

I made a note about the edit lock at the top and bottom.

I am too lazy to help out, but for the record this is totally awesome and I am certainly enjoying watching it all unfold.

Appreciation is a wonderful thing: It makes what is excellent in others belong to us as well.
