3 things. [More:]
1. my new natural deodorant is working. even when I sweat piggishly and un ladylike.
2. I'm beginning to like expensive blue cheese.
3. I'm wondering if I should write a whole new article after revising the first one twice.
1. I went to bed at 3am, woke up at 3pm.

2. The phrase, "Oatmeal Bear", makes me want to jump around.

3. I must leave the house soon.

1. My new natural deodorant works as well as any natural deodorant I've ever used--which is to say, not too badly, but not quite as well as I'd hope. Plus I think that my new natural deodorant is, like, flamboyantly gay. But I'm paranoid about aluminum's link to Alzheimer's, so what are you gonna do?
2. The expensive-cheese selection at my local organic grocery isn't what it used to be, and I find that heartbreaking.
3. I'll leave work sometime in the next ten minutes or so--which is kinda too bad, because, later tonight, there will be ponies and goats here.

1. I have had a headache all day long. That, combined with PMS, is making me cranky.
2. My landlord called me today but didn't leave a message. I suspect that he also stopped by when I wasn't home. This makes me unaccountably nervous, because why should he be trying to get in touch with me?
3. Last night, I was asked to be a bridesmaid in my friend's wedding. It occurred to me later that I am 30 years old and that's the first time I've been asked to be a bridesmaid.

Where on earth do you work, box?

1. I am enjoying a nice dry Riesling from the Niagra region, the first one I've found that is actually "dry" and doesn't just claim to be.

2. I made myself a delicious dinner of ziti with chicken, onions, green peppers, garlic and tomatoes in a sauce of olive oil, white wine, garlic, lemon juice, a slash o' balsalmic and some parmesan and romano.

3. The ice cream men in toronto have the most ridiculously good soft serve ice cream. Ever.

1. I am eating a lunch of pasta.
2. I am seriously considering quitting my job and doing something less frustrating, like herding cats.
3. I am anxious to move into my new house, but I must paint my room first.
4. I really hope box works at a carnival, because that would be pretty cool.

1. I totally scored today -- snagged a big, new-to-me charcoal grill from a house down the street. Someone had set it out with their garbage cans. My best guess is that some dad got a new one for Father's Day, and this one became obsolete.

2. I'm having a hard time thinking of things to grill.

3. Meh. Maybe I don't want to stand outside over an open flame anyway, because it's too damn hot today to begin with.

Bonus: Today I think I might have successfully killed a small percentage of my insidious dandelion crop. Fingers crossed.

pup just make sure the beers are bigger than the shotglass sized ones on that kingsford commercial. and you could grill veggies like squash, shrooms, onions, peppers, and zucchini.

I've been making grilled portobello "burgers" with blue cheese and grilled onions on a roll a lot lately. YMMV, but I like them.

You could grill dandelions.

1) One of the local coffeeshops has started selling a drink made of earl grey tea, steamed milk, and a shot of vanilla, and I've been drinking unholy amounts of it. Attempts to make something that tastes similar at home have not been successful, so far.
2) I have some barleywine at home that I am looking forward to consuming tonight, except for the fact that
3) Science hates me, my yeast are growing unexplainably slowly, and so it seems quite possible that I might be stuck here until midnight. Bleh.

You should grill salmon and sweetcorn! Very delicious.

Whole carrots wrapped in foil and slathered in butter are particularly yumtastic on the grill.

1) Mudpuppie: Grill a london broil you paid four bucks for on sale in Queens. If you are like me you will marinate it in lemon juice, garlic powder, beer, olive oil, worscheterstersestechestertesters sauce, soy sauce and so on, if you are even more like me you will use your crazy Cajun marinade syringe to inject the marinade into the meat, I felt like I was in a Cronenberg movie. Also cut the meat with your insane Japanese pink knife that has hearts on the handle and is sharper than Dorothy Parker's tounge. It was hot as hell out so also, just have a salad like me. If you are me you have to go outside and cover the grill when it cools down but before the promised 40 days and nights of rain gets here.

2. Jesus it's hot as balls today.

3. worscheterstersestechestertesters sauce.

whats a tounge exactly?
posted by Divine_Wino 19 June | 19:11
mudpuppie, I probably should have been more clear that the "burgers" are no more than the grilled portobellos themselves, topped with the cheese and onions and put on a roll. No big recipe. I just brush a little olive oil on the mushroom and on an onion slice and grill on each side for a few minutes. Then throw it on a lightly grilled roll and top with a little blue cheese that gets all melty.
posted by amro 19 June | 19:11
Portobellos it is. *I* should have been more clear, amro. My big curiosity was whether you marinated the 'shrooms. Now I know.

A tounge is a poisoned pen small enough to be carried around in a handbag (purse) should a reviewer find herself unable to access a typewriter. Alas, the adoption of the blackberry, palm pilot, et al has rendered the tounge almost obsolete.

Mudpuppie, whole cobs of corn marinated in soy sauce are great on the barbie (though probably not in season right now).

Public library. It's summer-reading-club time, so we're doing all kinds of things for the kiddies. Including, in this case, goats and ponies. Also somebody dressed up in a Clifford costume.
