I've always been fascinated with the camera obscura. I've taken a lot of photography classes, but the one I loved the most was my high school photo class when we built one using our classroom. We also made pinhole cameras, which are so fun. If you make a pinhole camera using a round container (I've used an oatmeal container), it serves as a fisheye lens and your pictures look really neat.

Those are sweet ~, if I ever manage to get a digital camera, I'm totally going to start digitally adding sprocket holes to the sides of the image. (totally!)
