am I a jerk for dancing? →[More:]so I get free tickets to see the band Cracker. I proceed to get plenty drunk and dance my ass off. at some point in between songs I mention to a guy that I dont really know this band, and I got free tickets. he scoffs, and says I can tell, you're just dancing around in circles. I say, bands like it when you dance. he says, bands like it when you pay for tickets. no one else was dancing... was it appropriate?

I am one of those people who can spend an entire show shooting daggers from my eyes at the girl telling her life story during the set.

I love it when people dance. You were right and that guy was just being a jerk.

You should have pantsed him and kept on dancing. I hate overly-stuffy fucktards like that. We get that in severe quantities here in Seattle, the whole "stand in the back looking sour" thing.

It depends on the venue.

(a) General admission; people are generally standing anyway; tickets don't cost all that much--yes, dance please.

(b) Assigned seating; tickets are ridiculously expensive and involved purchasing them from Ticketmaster between 9:00 and 9:01 a.m. on a specific day four months before the show; you are dancing on your chair while singing loudly and off-key and obscuring the view of those behind you--no, no, no.

Cracker seems more like (a) than (b) here.
