I think my cats ate all of my lizards. Poor skinks.
The butterfly plants are lantanas. I love them. I bet they stay perennial in Houston. Here they die every year unless you keep them in pots and bring them inside.

Yellow buddleias (different things get called butterfly bush... but I assume you are talking about them, ico) are a slightly less hardy type than some of the others. The only buddleia that has ever died was my first yellow one. After it was well established, the next one has done fine.

I have about thirty buddleias right now. I watch for seedlings to see if anything interesting comes up, but they do not self-seed much for me. Some people claim they are really invasive with the seeding, so maybe something here eats a lot of the seeds or something.
30....wow. Yes, I was talking about buddleias, but couldn't remember the name. You really know your plants!

Lantana ... that's absolutely right. These bushes are up about 90 NW of Houston, weretable, and I don't know if they're perennial (just planted this year, and my mom would know, she's the one in the family with the green thumb) or not, but they sure are lovely!

Many Texas wildflowers also are butterfly attractants, but it's nice to see them concentrated so densely amongst the lantanas. I hope to get more (and clearer) pictures on my next trip up there :-)
