I went to garage sales today and hit the local MegaStores (Lowe's, Wal-Mart, etc) and looked for cheapo plants and things. Found nothing useful at garage sales but at Lowe's they had this beautiful wrought iron trellis all by itself. Way fancier than anything else they had, very pretty with a sorta aged/mossy look to it. It had no price and the kid sold it to me for the same price as some of the cheapo crummy ones - 24.97. Sweeeeet. (guessing it was about 2-3x that but there was no tag or anymore like it, so whatevah)

Also bought a weeping fig tree for a buck. It had been allowed to die back, but the "dead" branches already had new buds on them. It is variegated, very pretty. I do not need another house plant as I kinda suck at taking care of them in winter. But whatever. Also picked up several colors of African daisies, dahlias, and some other annuals I had never tried before for 50% off. None of them looked bad, so I am not sure why they were half off. Don't care either.

And some clematis vines. They had them 50% off and I picked up a couple that I did not have. They were kinda sad looking but I dug through them and found the two best specimens.

So on top of what I already had to do, I have more things to plant now. I already had plants waiting to go in the ground. So yeah, that's what tomorrow and the next day will be. And probably helping mom put up her new Gazebo thingy from Lowe's. One of these.

And possibly doctoring the cat. One of my silly cats (bear) went outside and played in the rain the other day, I tried to get her inside but she ignored me. So now she is in my lap and sniffling, snorting, sneezing and making rather odd purring sounds that are somewhat distorted from (I guess) snot. I can't keep her out of my lap when she feels under the weather. I put her on my bed behind me when she went to sleep and made some little hoarse mewing sounds got back in my lap. Oh well.
Sea Music festival.

I have: 4 episodes of Dr Who (latest series), 3 grocery bags worth of good food, 1 bag of fruit, 1 bottle of vodka, and 1 hot girlfriend. Should be good.

Oooh, Miko, the Sea Music Festival sounds like fun! Have a blast.

weretable, I hope your cat is OK! And I have to say I ADORE clematis. So pretty! I wish I had a garden to play in.

What Z_R said. *blushes* Plus we're going to see the Eagles of Death Metal tomorrow with a bunch of friends, and they put on a helluva show. Also, getting new ink on Sunday--I've got a tattoo on my bicep that matches one of a long-ago ex from a relationship that went horribly, violently wrong, so I'm getting it turned into a lizard. Monday, I clean house and start fishing for freelance work.

It is fun, but odd fun. It's a mix of some good friends and former co-workers and fun sailing people, along with some grizzled and hearty old folkies. There's usually a good drunk on, and a pub sing with lots of hearty hollering. Usually there's a very, very late-night break-out jam session in some little-known corner of the place, with deep roots/traditional music going on. It's an annual tradition, kind of a homecoming, so every year I go.

...and 1 hot girlfriend...
...What Z_R said...

*can attest to the couple hotness in question*

I'm working a bit on my freelance gig. At some point, I'm going to undertake the huge task of shaving the ivy back within an inch of its life. It's harboring rats, you see. Also, a haircut. And basketball playoffs. And on sunday, Deadwood, motherfuckers!

Clubbing with the roommate tonight.
Clubbing with my best female friend and best drag queen friend tomorrow.

Also going to a protest tomorrow. nazis are marching in buffalo, and we're going to be there to tell them to go home.

And, there's a massive art festival in my neighborhood this weekend.

Hey! Miko! You are at Mystic Seaport?! I was going to apply for a job there not that long ago... I hope the festival is a big success!

and weretable, your descriptions of the gardening work are very, very tantalizing! Post some pics?!

I used to work there, for years, carmina. Now I'm emeritus. What did you want to apply for there? If you still want to, let me know.

Just going to try to get myself and my cat unsick and feeling like crap.

Miko, Williams-Mystic. I was not very serious about it but it sounded fascinating given the people's background and the little unusual approach to science. I loved finding out details about the little port town. I was day-dreaming about it for a couple of days. Ah, it could not have worked anyway... I could see myself going in a place like that 15-20 years later...
thank you for the offer tho'.

World Cup. *makes 'duh' face at anyone stupid enough to ask*

As previously mentioned, I'm spending time behind a table at MoCCA Saturday and Sunday during the day. Saturday night, I'm prolly gettin' drunk with comic book people and / or watching Munich on DVD. Sunday night is reserved for band practice, which we really need since we have a show next Saturday night and our drummer just got back from Dublin (i.e. we haven't been practicing).

All this, and wishing I could catch some world cup action.
