What happens when I text message a cell phone that has the feature turned off? I.e. the subscriber has chosen not to buy SMS service from the cell phone company?

Does my message bounce? Get blackholed silently?

Alternatively, what happens when I text message a landline?

kThx!
blackholed silenty. Sorta like MMS messages do when you MMS someone who doesn't have MMS. (say that ten times fast!)

in the uk, if you send a text message to a landline there's a service whereby a nice lady reads it out for you to the person on the other end. I'm not kidding either.

Well, I can't send texts, but I can receive them. So at least I get 'em.
