I tried to do this on Plastic but got too sick to continue, and now DailyKOS is having their own convention right here in Vegas. (I tried to crash it yesterday afternoon, but I stood out like a sore thumb in my pink "bunny's humpin'" t-shirt with 'mischief' across the top.)→[More:]

So anyway, the MeChat/MeFi/MeTalk/AskMe universe is fairly large, including the peripheral monkeyfilter and who knows what all.

This thread is for brainstorming a MeChat convention in Vegas: events, speakers, ambience, and random bashing of keyboards.

That works! I live in Vegas and can do some footwork. I will dig up some info on anything special happening then as well as some generic Vegas stuff.

So how does one buy tickets for Vegas shows? Like Penn & Teller? I tried Google but found an intimidating array of ticket brokers with badly designed web sites.

Could it be called the MetaMeetUp? Or how about the MegaMetaMeetUp? I'd add SpoFi to the mix as well.

I've organized conferences before and would be happy to offer help as I can. It would be important to decide on what the overall purpose of the event would be before moving into speakers or events, i.e. spreading the Mathowie Gospel, expanding the MeFi Universe, getting adversaries together so we can make them fight in the pit of death, stuff like that.

I was going to make a special post for this down the line, but I'll just mention here that anyone looking to see a show in Sept might be interested in LOVE, the new LeCirque/Beatles production. I have friends that saw the previews and they said it was most excellent. I'm hoping to go sometime soon.

Matildaben, most box offices/resorts have ticket sales through the resort website or at least a click through to wherever ticket service they use (ticketbastrd/tickets.com) I don't have any experience with brokers (except for being GOUGED for seats at that sold-out Cubs preseason game here).

Penn and Teller is a great show, you can get tickets through the Rio/Harrahs "buy tickets" link on this page on their site

I think that before I helm a MeFi/MeCha/AskMe/AxeMe/MeTa/MeFiProject meetup, I want to get this little Vegas MeCha meetup out of the way first. It's been a while since I've arranged an Internet-group meet and I want to get back into the swing of things first.

But you're definitely welcome to join us in our unorganized fun this September.
