DIE VARMINT [More:]
Something chewed through the vines of my Big Max and Dill's Atlantic Giant pumpkins. They both had decent pumpkins on them already and it is too late to plant more (giant pumpkins need at LEAST 120 frost free days) and even if we had a late frost they would not be ready for Halloween. Motherfucker. I went to a lot of trouble because I was going to try growing really big pumpkins this year. I was doing everything by-the-book to grow ~1000lb pumpkins with the Dill's and I do not think whatever it was left a single plant alone.

I have no idea what did it either. Would squirrels chew through pumpkin plants? Fuck.
A squirrel would never do such a thing. I used to grow pumpkins and it is tough. I feel your pain.

It was probably a bunny.

The same thing happened to me last year. It got every single pumpkin plant. This year it got every watermelon plant. So frustrating. Sorry about your plants.

Gah. I should not have stopped the mower and saved the bunny this spring! I saw this little rabbit in front of the mower and it didn't move, I stopped and picked it up. It squeaked and squeaked and wiggled but did not get away... so I took it and put it at the edge of my brushpile and let it go inside while I was mowing. I should have just squished it. =P
Might have been a groundhog. I've never had one go after squash vines of any kind - although they will go to ludicrous extremes to get to broccoli or Jerusalem artichokes - but man they can do some serious damage. Sorry about your pumpkins!

That sucks, weretable. I'm so so sorry. I can't imagine what would eat a squash vine, myself. Especially without eating the fruit.
