Cross post from AskMe: What can you tell me about your experience, past or present, working for Amazon.com? →[More:]I may be applying for a job with them in the next few months. I’m looking for info on corporate culture, benefits, compensations, anything. I would be applying in the merchandising and buying area, but I’m interested in any experiences. I dig my present job, but the special project I've been working on is starting to wind down, and it's not totally certain there will be any (worthwhile) work for me here afterwards.

You moving to Seattle?

Currently, only if I were to apply and get hired by Amazon. I like what I've heard about Seattle, but it's also pretty far from both my and my wife's families, so it would be a bit of a wrench.

The only employee discount they offer: 10% off on purchases. Only works for the first $1000 of purchases a year.

Yep, you basically get up to $100 off a year. Woo!
