i have an ear infection at least, i think it is. i had a fever yesterday and throughout the night, and now my ear and throat hurts.
i heard garlic is a natural antibiotic so i...um...put some garlic in my ear. yeah. has anyone else done this?
A whole clove or just some oil? I have never done this, but wouldn't be surprised if it worked. Garlic rocks on many levels.

Oh...and I hope you feel better soon.

CAREFUL! Please rinse that out.

I had ringworm once and put some crushed garlic on my arm (where the ringworm was) because I'd read that garlic and vaseline were a folk remedy and I didn't have the vaseline. I left it on overnight and in the morning had an ENORMOUS blister there. It was more than ten years ago and I still have a scar.

Get Simalasan (sp?). It works fast and well!

cali, EEK! i just removed the garlic clove from my ear. (Not the whole clove, just a piece that sat on the rim of the ear canal.) I've had it in for about an hour and I've got to say it feels better, but your blister and scar freaks me out, so i took it out. (The ringworm freaks me out, too.)

fenriq, isn't Simalasan for pink eye?

I'll take the garlic-as-an-ear-infection-cure over garlic-as-a-yeast-infection-cure any old day.

Don't put stuff in your ear. ..at least in the canal. Not even to clean it out with a Q tip.

If it is an outer ear infection, there are OTC drops that could work.

If your throat hurts also, it could be a middle ear infection. Garlic could be a systemic remedy then.

Get some rest, if you can. . .good luck.

Something to try: get a hand towel (or something similar) thoroughly damp and warm it up in the microwave. Don't get it too hot, tho'. Lay down with the towel over your ear and re-warm the towel as it cools. My brother had frequent ear aches growing up and this was one of my mum's tricks. He said it helped.
