OSX Arghhhh. Help me. OSX Doesn't seem to have a hosts file. →[More:]I'm in the process of moving hosts, and need to temporarily point a domain from the old host to the new host for testing purposes. I'd normally use the hosts file to do this, but for some reason OSX doesn't want to play.

I've added my new host to the netinfo manager and restarted lookupd, but ping still resolves to the old address.

Anyone? How the hell do you locally override domain names using OSX?

Yes it does; it's right there in /etc/hosts. It should be.

Also, now that I think about it, you might also try using Cocktail or similar utility to delete system cache files. I'm not sure if this is cached or not.

No, just edit your hosts file and sudo kill -HUP `cat /var/run/lookupd.pid` or sudo killall -HUP lookupd. Good to go.

Thanks people. The "no hosts" thing came from the internet, but once I got past that everything was fine.
