Interesting interview with Karen Armstrong on salon.com (you'll have to click on an ad to get the day pass).[More:] Historian and former nun Karen Armstrong says the afterlife is a "red herring," hating religion is a pathology and that many Westerners cling to infantile ideas of God. Note: this isn't a god(s)-bashing interview.
Wow, that IS interesting... I'm going to have to bookmark this for when I can devote a couple of hours to it.

I've never considered myself "religious" as an adult, but I've always held the Tao te Ching as the one 'scriptural' text that made sense to me. I just think Taoism is more a philosophy than it is a religion.

This woman seems to be trying to bridge that gap between Lao Tzu, Buddha, and western religions. Very cool find, gaspode.

Thankd for this, gaspode. That was indeed interesting. Just the last week, I was whinging that christianity was more bothered with the after life than the current one.
