This is a LOST post. Salon discusses the season finale. Let's chat amongst ourselves. My opinion? EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!
Jack and Sayid came up with a pretty stupid plan, I thought.

Hey! The outside world still exists. They're not in space a la Dark City or anything of that sort.

A fine finale to a decent season, though I still think some of the existential terror of the first season has gone missing in the second.

OO, I missed where Walt said The Others where pretending. That adds a winkle!

My thoughts . . . I think Jack and what's he name knew exactly what was gonna happen and wanted to infiltrate The Othes. IMO

I thought that a lot of season 2 was pretty sketchy... there were some episodes that seemed to have been pulled entirely out of someone's ass. Nice to see things coming together in the finale.

I think something significant is going to happen with Sun having gone with Jin and Sayid, but what, I have no idea. Maybe she'll be able to sweet talk the Others?

Well I am caught up now. And confused. I thought a good portion of season 2 - pretty much the entire middle, was boring and sucked ass. I am glad that it picked up towards the end.
Yeah, the middle of season 2 was godawful. I nearly stopped watching at "Two For the Road" and then Michael killed Ana Lucia and I thought "AHA! Now we're getting somewhere!"

Yeah, Ana Lucia was the most boring character. Thank god they killed her (and hopefully she won't come back). I hate that actress. All the time they spent walking thru the jungle back to camp in season 2 was excruciating. I stopped watching then and then started downloading later and catching up.

I also cannot stand Charlie (the character or the actor)--please get rid of him. Both his on- and off-island stories are boring as fuck.

I thought the season finale was pretty good, overall.

Bringing in Penny at the end was pretty excellent as her family has enough cash to have done something like build the shit on the island, I guess--but orchestrating Desmond there? Hmm, I dunno.

Also, did it say anywhere how long Desmond was in prison for? I missed it or forgot.

Anyone got predictions for the next season? I assume Michael hooks up with Sayid and Co., and attempt to get folks back but... what's most interesting to me is which of the standard characters starts taking over or turning the Others. I assume it'll be Sawyer and it'll be an act on his part.

Also, I'm assuming that Hurly will not return to camp but instead go to the fire to meet Sayid.

Something I asked elsewhere but didn't get an answer to... the actor that played the woman who gave Desmond the boat... same actor as Lilly? If so, why? She sure looked the same to me.

For a second I thought the show was gonna be super bold and have the Others execute Jack, Freckles and Sawyer. Then I remembered it's television. :)

I think it was supposed to be Lily that gave him the boat. I assumed her husband dying had something to do with her being in the institution. I could be wrong though.
dobbs: Word has it that Harold Perrineau (plays Michael) is not coming back as a regular next season. Also the season finale was meant to "permanently resolve" the Michael/Walt storyline, so I'm thinking they really are off the island for good.

Really though the writers needed to do something about Walt, just looking at him in the two episodes he was in this season, it's very obvious that the kid is more than a month older. I think removing him from the story was much better than getting a new actor.

And yeah, it was Libby who gave Desmond the boat (which is named Elizabeth - Libby is a common nickname).

I think Hurley will go to the camp - remember, Sayid didn't let Jack tell Kate, Sawyer, and Hurley what he was up to, so Hurley doesn't know what's going on.

Huh, I called her Lily. I blame dobbs.
ah, i haven't read any stuff about the show/actors so didn't know perrineau was leaving. i'm glad of it, though--another character that was very boring.

grapefruitmoon, in the final episode, the black smoke goes up and sawyer or someone says, "didn't sayid say 'black smoke'?" so Jack must have told them all the plan after Sawyer says "What plan?"

Plus, can't see Hurly tredging back alone. Unless he gets picked up and carried by that bird that called his name. ;)

I hope they make Locke a cool character again.

That is to say, if he keeps sobbing in the jungle, I hope the polar bear eats him.

Locke and Eko had better not be dead, or I'm going to throw things.
