I didn't go to the prom. I was too busy having a 48 hour hedonism-thon in the dunes. As was most of the track and field team (the only cool jocks!) the band, the choir, and the drama club. Heh. Heh. Hehhhhhh.

Well, *this* prom is actually pretty good. A full report tomorrow. Maybe.

I set up my junior prom and didn't go. That was lame. But then I was made the token smart guy on the prom court my senior year, so that was nice.

I was on the prom court, but prom suxxor3d. My tux was sweet though.

I was voted Homecoming King by the sophomore class of my high school - does that count?

Junior year I got sucked into going to prom with the friend of the girl I liked, at her school, where I knew maybe five people. It sucked.

Senior year, somebody pulled the fire alarm and we all had to stand outside for maybe fourty minutes, and when they let people back in, prom was over.

So, yeah. Fuck prom.

Both me and my date had the flu. I don't remember prom at all. But I know I was there because there are pictures.

Yesterday at the mall I found garters that say "Prom 2006" on them. I was very disturbed.

My prom was OK, didn't live up to the hype. When hsbf and I got back to the hotel we watched a Discovery Channel special on bears. It was more entertaining than prom had been.

I didn't go to the junior or senior proms. I almost went to the senior prom but lacked the courage to ask someone (who probably would have gone).

My oldest daughter went to her junior prom last weekend with a bunch of friends (no date), which is pretty cool. That sort of thing was unheard of 1974.

I didn't go to the prom because nobody asked me. [glares at tommasz]

I was so out of the loop in high school that I didn't even know when the proms were. I don't even know where they held them. I wasn't trying to be too cool for school (literally), I just was so lost in my own world that I just never noticed any announcements or signs or anything.

I was never one of the "popular" kids. I dated the king of the artsy/alterna crowd, but the jocks ruled the school. I can't even remember who our prom king and queens were. But when I was in my early 20s, I hosted a huge birthday party for a friend with a 70s prom theme. We even had a souvenir picture station. It rocked the house. At the end of the night, I was crowned prom queen by some of the same people who looked down on me in high school.

The moral of the story is, if you want to be Prom Queen, throw your own damn prom!

And also, did you call it "prom" or "the prom?" Back in my day, it was "the prom" but my sister's crowd drops the "the." I blame Pretty in Pink. "What about PROM, Blaine? WHAT ABOUT PROM!!!"

Prom was not fun for me. My then boyfriend (from another school) dressed in a gray tux complete with bowler hat and cane. Kept raising the tablecloth with the cane as though his nether parts had a mind of their own. On the dance floor with a group of girls and one of them said someone should teach me how to dance. (I DO NOT dance like Elaine!!!) Spent the night in a friend's grandparents beach house, freezing with no heat. Had breakfast at another friends house the next morning-ice cold scrambled eggs and pancakes. Yuk. Went to boyfriend's prom-some girl there had on the same dress as me. So all in all-not a great time.
Oh, and the year after I graduated, the younger brother of a friend called me four days before his prom looking to find a date. Went out, bought dress, two days later he called to say he didn't need me anymore. Yeah, I love proms...
