Well, if I'm reading correctly, you also assumed that someone who carried a purse would be capable of playing the 'woman in distress.'

Hey, I'm a fix-it-herself, build-it-from-scratch, sock-you-in-the-nose kind of girl, and sexism of any sort totally pisses me off.

However, I'll use the woman-in-distress thing if I think it's my best or only leverage. We all have to make do with the tools we've got.

Sexism sucks, but it's not going away anytime soon. So at least it gives us dirty little tricks like that.

My mum loves playing the little grey-haired ol' lady in distress when necessary. She cackles (really!) when she tells me she's done this or that and pulled that card.
