MetaChat is an informal place for MeFites to touch base and post, discuss and
chatter about topics that may not belong on MetaFilter. Questions? Check the FAQ. Please note: This is important.

This is the thread for telling what Metachat has done for you.
Metachat has introduced me to a bunch of people whom I would never have met otherwise. Now, that could be good or bad. But I could name a handful of people (though I won't) who have very sweetly touched my lives, and that never would have happened without this blessed site.
Taz and dodgy (and I'll admit here that you two are on the list I alluded to above), thanks so much for building this lovely little lego land.
This place has been a life-saver. I love it, and I love you all.
I don't know where to start with this. For the most part, metachat hasn't given me anything I didn't already have, but it's given me more of the stuff I like. I really feel a sense of kinship with the site, feel that I've made friends, and have been involved with something beautiful. I've got to hear a bunch of great music, heard a load of really good stories, talk with fantastic, artistic people.
In some way, I think the site has been touched by greatness, and I'm humbled to be in the company I'm in. You're all so smart & fun & sexy.
Finally... Cute pictures of bunnies.
The site has given me access to lots and lots of cute pictures of bunnies.
Here's to dodgygeezer & taz. Thankyou for something truly amazing.
I've not been here long, less than six months, but in that time I've 'met' people I've felt a kinship with. I've always felt weird, the odd one out, but I don't feel like that here, I feel like we're a whole big bunch of odd-ones-out who can celebrate our oddness and oneness together.
I've also seen how people have been there for those who need it in good times and bad. I can't wait for my first meetup!
While being able to hold its head up on its own now and crawl across any expanse of terrain through myriad obstacles without puking on itself quite so often, combined with the odd verbalized utterance that in the right wind approximates adult communication and the soon-to-be-ability of standing on its own 2 legs are indeed commendable characteristics, by far the most attractive feature of our newly matriculated 1 year old is its openly expressive, smile-inducing, emotionally forthright and wonderously cute bunny face of course!
I have a bunch of wonderful new friends I didn't have a year ago, which is excellent. And I love that I can get a smile on my face, or laugh out loud pretty much every morning when I open the site, and often I can tune into some sweet groove on radio mecha. This is a perfect morning: up in time to watch the sunrise with a cup of deeeelicious coffee; silly, smart banter and interesting tales from my pals on the page, and woowoo music on the radio. Priceless. (It could only be better if y'all actually came over here and made the coffee before I woke up, and then said something about how beautiful I look in the morning.)
Metachat has been like finding a group of old friends. Old friends I never knew I had.
Staying home with a kid can be lonely, mindnumbing work sometimes. Having a group of grown-ups who make me laugh and make me think and make me care about them has made my days so much better.
Metachat came over and brought me chicken soup when I was down, and it rubbed my back and washed my dishes. Metachat gave me the first Valentines not from a child that I have gotten in many a year. Metachat gave me a silly hat, a cake and a case of beer for my birthday. Metachat is teaching me things. Metachat mows my lawn and vacuums my rug and laughs at my jokes. I love Metachat and Metachat loves me: yes, I love it so much I want to marry it and go to the chapel of love with Metachat.
Pretty much everybody else has said it, but I'm gonna too: I've met some really cool, good people here that I would not have otherwise. As such, MeCha has made things simply better. Y'all're good folk.
Plus, I've seen a lot of really warped pictures. And some repulsively cute ones.
It's welcomed the quirkiness that is too much for the rest of the world. It's let me be me. And valued it. It's introduced me to people who always have something interesting and thoughtful to say. It's touched me and made me laugh a lot, and even made me cry...believe it. It's another dimension to my world. it enriches my day. It gives an excellent demonstration of the good that an intentional community can do. It's supported me and helped add to my sense of self. Thanks.
Well, I had some not so great stuff happen last night, and came right home and stopped by IRC to tell some real humans what was up, and then twice after that found I couldn't sleep so came back and there were people there even though it was really late, and they played music and made me laugh and sent me to sleep calm and optimistic. Can't beat that.
So, y'all, at what point to we scrape together tickets to Iceland for taz, Dodgy and SO's? (though I think a weekend trip to Amsterdam or something might be more fun)
hahaha! I want everyone to buy those superlotto killerlotto blockbuster billiontrillion dollar bigbigbiglottery tickets in our honour so that eventually we can have an ALL-BUNNY AMSTERDAM MEETUP. Woot!
MetaChat gave me friends who let me be myself completely and utterly without pretense or hiding anything and still like me. Well, pretend to like me at least, which is near enough.
taz, I think you need to include some fine print in the sign-up page that, should any member ever win bing in any lottery, they are required to fund a worldwide MeCha love-in in the city/country of their choice.
