My high school crush is coming to visit NYC! YAY! →[More:]Junior year, man, huge crush (he was a senior). In my acting class for V-Day, we did V-Day Secret Valentines, and when we went around to share what we wanted, I said I wanted him in a box. Flash foward to V-Day, and everyone is treating me strangely. 7th Period, I got summoned out of class.... and there's a huge box on the floor. I desperately tried to escape, EMBARRASSED OUT OF MY MIND, but... out he popped. Nothing happened after that, which kinda ticked me off- who jumps out of a box for a girl on V-Day and doesn't, like, take her out to dinner or something?

HOLY COW AND I JUST REALIZED one of my 101/1001 goals is to make out with someone I didn't make out with when I first go the chance (I've dubbed these folks regret-me-nots) and he is TOTALLY ON THE LIST. Yaaaay.

This is a slight derail (TPS I am excited for you!).

There was this girl in high school, Sue L, and I had a crush on her. She was a junior, I was a senior. I FINALLY, after months of prevarication, got up the nerve to ask her out for New Year's eve. She stammered and said she was busy, sorry. I was crushed (and I'd asked her enough in advance to know that her answer indicated that she just didn't want to.

I got over it. . in the next couple years I would run into her and she looked better, each time I saw her.

Flash forward 20 years or so. . I am back in So Cal, and see her name on a real estate sign. . .she's realtor, I think. . .so I call her and it turns out that she was "my" Sue's cousin. So she gives me the right number. . .

I call, and say, this is out of the blue but my name is Dan F****** and I saw your cousin's name and called her and she gave me your number and I hope it's not too weird but I just wanted to say hi.

And she's silent, then she goes. . .I remember you. You are the first boy who ever asked me out and I panicked and did not know what to say so I said no and have regretted it ever since. We pretty much had the same memory of the facts.

It was a bittersweet conversation for me. . she's been married 3 times, divorced 3 times, a single mom, in a small rural town.

I have not had any other contact with her, but it left me breathless.

End of story.Lives can turn on a dime, for no good reason.

OK TPS, go GET him. . .*smile*. . .
