Did you know? That altavista is still around AND it has an .mp3 search function that works quite nicely?
Hell yeah, I use it on an almost daily basis. I've found some really hard-to-find goodies there. Videos, too.

I did not know that.

I had totally forgotten about altavista, but google's been obnoxious lately, so yesterday I bethought me of old altavista & the .mp3 button was a nice surprise.

I had completely forgotten about Altavista too.

Unfortunately my search for "A Smile and a Ribbon" yielded nothing. Ah well...

Thanks to altavista, I finally got a copy of Alligators All Around which I have been looking for for ages. So I share it with y'all.

That's great, thanks mgl. Using up the rest of my monthly bandwidth nicely.

I still use Babelfish regularly. AV was probably my favorite search engine for ages; I still think it has better operators than google. They were the first to have the + and - that worked with quotes for a very quick, efficient, and accurate search. I stopped using it when Metacrawler came out, because Metacrawler used it on top of other things. And then there was google. But I still love AltaVista, and altavista.digital.com is still on the tip of my fingers, even though they ditched the .digital ages ago.

Where are my manners? Thank you for letting me know about the MP3 function, mgl! I already found an old Meat Puppets track I didn't have!

I added it to Firefox's quick searches.

Heh heh, last time we met up at Antarctica, I put "Alligators All Around" on the internet jukebox and sang along with it at the bar.
