This, I wish we played at our wedding. Maybe as the first dance even. The Wall of Sound rocks. This is one almost PERFECT song. Anyone have any other perfect songs? They don't have to be wedding related.→[More:]I think Creep by Radiohead is one. I'm not saying it's my favourite song, but I think they did it 100% right when they recorded it. I have others, but I can't think of them right now. dammit.

Nice song! I hadn't heard it before but its one of those instantly familiar songs, ya know?

Anyway, we entered our reception to Dave Matthews' Everyday. I know I didn't have to go with wedding music but you set the pace and I'm just coming along for the ride.

Another song I'd nominate is Dido's "Thank You" (note, not the Eminem voice over crap version, just Dido and that luminous voice).

Perfect? As opposed to favored for any of various personal reasons? That's a high bar. The only one I can unreservedly nominate is "Letter From an Occupant". No, wait -- Fiona Apple's "Parting Gift" is another. Maybe "Tainted Love", "How Soon Is Now", or "Love Will Tear Us Apart"? Certainly some Beatles songs would be in the running... "Like a Rolling Stone" is still arguably the greatest rock'n'roll song, if it isn't "Rainy Day Women #12 & 35". Or "Satisfaction". But maybe perfect means something different than "great".

I'd nominate Funeral as a perfect album. But that's an entirely different ball of wax.

I think what I am getting at is the kind of song where the song itself, the production, the players, etc. are arguably unbeatable.

Like, most of Blood on the Tracks as another example. Idiot Wind for sure.

I absolutely adore "Happy Together" by the Turtles, I think it's pretty much a perfect pop song. As for the perfect album, for me it has to be "Decoration Day" by the Drive-by Truckers. Every single song is great, and I'm always moved and cheered by that album each time I hear it.
