Our del.icio.us network I thought it'd be cool if we had a del.icio.us network for Metachat. Post your del.icio.us usernames here and I'll add you to the network.
Okay, so somebody tell me how this works. Yeah, I know the world and his wife know about del.icio.us, but I don't. Does every site I visit get added to my username. Because if it did, that'd be a bit, er, embarrassing.
No only the ones that you decide to mark as delicious.
Does anyone else stumble? I find the toolbar handy. Overthere I'm peanut2. Are you gonna whip together the RSS to something fun? Because I stumble far far more than i delicious.
The idea of del.icio.us is that it's a place you can save all your bookmarks.
So you're browsing around and you see a site that looks cool that you're likely going to want to come back to it again. In the past you'd just bookmark it (or add to favorites in IE) but once you have a del.icio.us account setup you simply click a button on your browser toolbar and it'll post the current page to your del.icio.us account.
All del.icio.us accounts are public which means you can't privately bookmark stuff, but on the other hand it has the great benefit of you being able to browse the bookmarks of like-minded people. Other benefits are that you can access your bookmarks from any machine, you don't need to backup your bookmarks, and you can access your bookmarks from feeds (which is very useful with Firefox's Live Bookmark feature).
Did I mention tagging? You can categorize your links by multiple tags. Handy.
del.icio.us isn't for everyone but I've found it really useful.
dabitch I used to stumble until I either got really pissed off with the intrusion/loss of space from the browser thingy or it was crashing me. Prolly both.
I still occasionally check out stumble but I donot find it friendly to search/move around perving as an outsider. Cumbersome in fact. They discriminate against voyeurs...kinda. Or I'm just stupid. Or both.
Because of several dumb decisions, I have two usernames and keep putting off doing the work to amalagamate them, because I can't see any way to do it wihout a lot of drudge work.
therealdg, because I was too slow to get dg and detdg, which I intended to use just for work stuff, but that turned out to be a stupid idea, so now they are all mixed up.
ok, explain me this: I get that when I tag something I can share it with all you wonderfull people, but is there any other coolness associated with this? I added "metachat" to "my network", but it seems to have no effect.
