Street preacher silenced by Asbo
A street evangelist has been given an Asbo, banning him from using a megaphone to preach. Philip Howard, 52, a familiar face in central London for his catchphrase "Be a winner, not a sinner", was ordered not to use "any amplification device" in Oxford Street and the surrounding areas after the complaints. Westminster City Council said it had been forced to bring the action at Horseferry Road magistrates' court after attempts to strike a deal with Mr Howard, from Paddington, failed. The Asbo lasts for three years.
