Two of the greatest soul songs. ever. If you don't like them you have no soul. that is all.

*froogs frantically*
Sorry, I'm not really interested in having a soul.

You know, it would be nice if people who make rash statements about the greatness of songs they post on yousendit would tell those of us who are at work or for other reasons unable to download them what the songs are so we can make our own biased comments about same.

Not whingin', just sayin'.

But yeah, souls are overrated.

WOO! Eddie Floyd! "Big Bird" is indeed one of the great soul songs of all time. I remember being at a mod club in London in the '80s and seeing about a hundred perfectly coiffed and suited mod boys go absolutely apeshit when this came on the ol' turntable. "Just get on up!"

Wow, thank you, brother Jon! I'm not sure if it means I have a soul but these are good. I like 25 Miles quite alot! Maybe I'll have to get some exploring in one of these evenines.

And damn I need a better set of headphones badly.

I agree, dg. And then later I meet jonmc for a beer and he asks what I thought of such-and-such song and I say, "You know I can't listen at work and my home computer is internet-free; what song are you talking about?" Though sometimes one can pick up on context clues to figure it out.

I was gonna guess Ruth Brown, but at least one of them seems to be Eddie Floyd.

I actually think the mystery is kinda funny, though, so keep it up, brother jon!
