Hey, I just got a set of Ubuntu live disks in the mail. How do you like it so far?

Ubuntu is Linux for human beings. It follows, then, that human beings must be very, very fond of the color brown.

Wow, I'm actually using Ubuntu installed on a borrowed laptop. It's a bit surreal - I mean, I'm only using it for internet...

It's pretty cool so far. I'm impressed that it knows what all my hardware is, and installed the correct drivers for everything. Not even Windows does that.

I have had a couple of problems configuring Grub, since I'm not giving up my Windows partition yet. Still working on that.

And a question for the Linux-enabled members here: What do you use for a file manager? I actually like (or at least am used to) Windows Explorer for file management on Windows. I've never been a big fan of Nautilus, and this version doesn't seem to be much better than I remember. Any suggestions?

Nautilus? I have to admit to not being familiar with Ubuntu, but I'd switch to KDE if it's possible. Gnome has gone way too far down the "Linux for complete fucking idiots" path.

Beyond that, I have to admit I often find the Linux filesystem easier to use at the console. I'm not a hardcore geek, but last time I mucked about in Linux, graphical file managers were still a bit... amature.
