The World's Bestest Cologne Shop Ever! [More:] This shop has everything you could ever want to have: Pomegranate, Snow, Christmas Tree, even esoterics like Laundromat, Play-doh, and Holy Water!

Dear God, Bunnyhaids, the fantasies that this place inspires in me....

Have it it! And tell me which one's you'd wear!

(LT is a nice mix of all of above, if you're wondering, and I KNOW YOU ARE...)
I have three of their candles: Laundromat, Thunderstorm, and Wet Garden, and unfortunately, none of them smell like they're supposed to. They smell nice, for sure, but not like the descriptions. I also have their Rain cologne which doesn't really remind me of the rain. I was hoping for that awesome Portland rain smell, but it let me down :( It's more of a clean and sterile smell than it should be.

But I'm still planning on getting a Dirt candle, Sandalwood cologne and probably everything they make that smells like Paperback if I can find them (another problem is that it's damn difficult to find their more unusual scents).

I love Demeter fragrances. I got two for my birthday a couple years ago - Gingerale and Mojito, and they're all gone now because I loved them so much!

Back when I used to read alt.fashion, I'd hear about delicious Demeter fragrances, but have never experienced any. I can't recall any of the names now (Dirt?) but thanks for reminding me.

I'm not a big cologne and candle man by any stretch, but this site made me bite down and get off the page and do something lame like organize my checkbook to keep from ordering hundreds of dollars' worth of their crap.

Bummer about the candles, though. I'm slavering for the Christmas Tree, Rain, etc.

This is intersting. I'll be checking back here.

I think I'm Thunderstorm, Bourbon, Bonfire, Ocean, Lavender, Honeysuckle, Grass, and Firefly.

I'm certainly curious about what Sex on the Beach (the fragrance) smells like.

I wore dirt on cold days and Holy Water on warm days for YEARS. Most of college (which was a really long time in my case). Got lots of compliments on both.

Tempted to get another bottle of Dirt, as I miss it. Basil sounds so tempting, too, though. I love the smell of fresh picked basil, and it always reminds me of my grandmother's garden.

Kellydamnit - what are the actual scents like, as far as intensity level? Authenticity of the scent?

I really really really want to get the Christmas Tree one for my home and for me, but I want it to be as kickass as in my head.

Please tell me people this shit is good so I can indulge myself and not be disappointed with the results.

I bet that Christmas Tree will be pretty accurate, LT. You might as well treat yourself to something nice and get it.

Dirt smelled earthy, vaguely of packaged peat moss or potting soil, and a bit spicy. No one ever said I smelled like dirt while wearing it, and a lot of people would comment they liked my perfume.

Holy Water smelled very clean, with a hint of cucumber. Very, very mild. Not what I would think of as holy water (which, to me, always had that smell of clean standing water, like you would get from hose water), but not bad.

I bought my sister Ginger Ale, which was pretty much dead on, and Gasoline, which was a bit TOO close for me, once. (she loves ginger ale, and as kids always wanted to go to the gas station with my parents since she loved the smell).

It's good stuff. They don't last particularly long, though. That was my biggest gripe. But, for the price I can't be shocked. They were no worse than a drugstore perfume (in terms of staying power) compared to, say, Dior.

May have changed since I wore them, though. I got them back when they offered soap, lotion, candles and perfume. In like twenty scents. So they may have improved their formulas since them and have better staying power.

I think that fixatives are the most expensive ingredient in perfumes, which is why more expeinsive perfumes are longer lasting. Until the 1970s perfumiers most often used spermaceti from sperm whales. Once that became unavailable, they had to resort to expensively synthesized lab chemicals. Or so I understand.

I got Cinnamon the "earl grey tea" a couple years ago. It smelled great for about 5-10 minutes, then disappeared. But oh! those 5-10 minutes.

I'm curious why anyone would want to smell like lobster, though.

Okay, kidlets, it's a go, then!

I will buy some Demeter Product Crap and let you all know the results. This is easily one of the finest things my Inner Kidlet has ever pounced upon from the Internet. I've been thinking about it a lot today.

Damn you all!
I just ordered a bottle of Dirt. I was tempted to get Thunderstorm, too, but it's just not in the budget this week. But hey, free basil room spray when you spend $15! Full size, too!!

LT, hope you saw that before you ordered!

I've heard of Demeter before, especially Dirt, but I'd never visited their site. Now I want one of everything.

Okay, bunnies? Why lie? This site is Obsession Personified:

I went on a virtual shopping spree to see how much money I could conceivably drop on this site and the total was:

$791.00!!!!!

And that's not even the final, final total if I could get the bath, cologne, room spray and lotion for each of the fragrances!

I'm a sick little monkey. I will have to order just 15 dollars worth and be content until I start robbing houses to support this habit, obviously.

For shits n' giggles, here's the flavors that made the cut:

Cannabis Flower, Pomegranate, Wet Garden, Waffles, This is Not a Pipe, Suntan, Steam Room, Snow, Sawdust, Rye Bread, Riding Crop, Pruning Shears, Paperback, Ocean, New Zealand, Mulled Cider, Mesquite, Laundromat, Greenhouse, Gingerale, Funeral Home, Fireplace, Firefly, Earl Grey Tea, Dregs, Dandelion, Christmas Tree, Cedar, Celery, Cappucino, Bon Fire and Black Pepper.

Any woman out there who can jump into this list and create a night from all of it is welcome to submit her application for my Life Partner(tm) here.
