I heart Sylvia Poggioli What NPR voices do you have a crush on? You have to not know what they look like.
Diane Rehm sounds like a hottie.

Do they have to be newspersons?

I like Roy Blount on Wait, Wait. Noah Adams gives good voice. And I want to have Nick Spitzer's love children. (I do know what Nick looks like, but I would have said that even before I saw him).

Those of you who like the ladies, don't you have a crush on Nina Totenberg? Especially when she does the different voices of the Supreme Court Justices? That's so entertaining.

Then there are NPR names. Some of the names are a hoot. My current favorite is "Ofeibia Quist-Arcton," though "Neda Ulaby," "Lakshmi Singh" and "Giles Snyder" always echo nicely as well.

I have an anti-crush on Andrei Coudrescu. Cheer up, dude.

I have a thing for journalists, so "just about all of them" is the only answer I can give.

Check this out: I picture Daniel Shore as looking like a basset hound. Seriously, four legs, drooping ears and all.

Elizabeth Arnold. (And I do know what she looks like, and she's way cute.)

Oh, Miko, I met Andrei Codrescu once. He's an ass.

Ira Glass, forever and always.

Ira Glass looks exactly as he sounds. I can't really explain that. He makes an appearence in the Tale of Two Johns documentary about They Might Be Giants.

Also, I've met Garrison Keilor, and while I love the man, he's also the ugliest human I've ever seen.

Yeah, Ira is a nebbish.

I love Snigdha Prikash's voice.

I've always wanted to get high with Noah Adams and Susan Stamberg. Does that count?

I love the way Nina Totenberg reports on the Supreme Court.

I've taken Andrei Codrescu's classes at LSU. He is, in fact, an ass, but a wildly entertaining one.

Once, I was working at a hotel in Austin, and Linda Wertheimer was staying with us. She called down to the front desk and requested a wakeup call, "Hi, I'm Linda Wertheimer. Can I get a six a.m. wakeup call?"

I literally swooned.

OK, this is not an NPR personality so it doesn't count, but it's close to what you're asking. In the afternoons, the local christian radio station plays a nationally syndicated broadcast featuring a Scottish priest. I came across it one day while flipping through stations. He has the most beautiful accent. I know in reality he's probably old and wrinkled and I disagree violently with most of his religious views...but THAT VOICE. In my head he's a young, tall, handsome Scottish priest who's just begging to be corrupted by me.

LeeJay, that is HOT. ;D

For me, it's Kai Ryssdal, on Marketplace. (I'm glad I was able to look up how to spell his name without running across his photo.) He's got a sexy voice and a smartass attitude that I find irresistable.

Keillor IS an ugly man, but the mind and the voice make him beautiful in my opinion. (I saw an episode of "A Prairie Home Companion" on an outdoor stage here in Atlanta, and man, do Minnesotans SWEAT when they're in Georgia in May.)

Fiona Ritchie ("The Thistle and Shamrock") also sounds pretty, in her folky Scottish way.

I'm so glad you say this, because I take your word, and it gives me further excuse for finding him tiresome.

As to Garrison Kiellor: I've met him too. I wouldn't say he's ugly; he's just homely, is what he is. And even though he's homely, it would matter not at all if I had the chance to get to know him. He's profoundly attractive for his gifts, as BP says.

What the fuck is NPR?

Yep, another vote for the lovely sounding Fiona Ritchie. And Afropop Worldwide's Georges Collinet has a great voice as well.

I've always loved listening to Joanne Silberner. Her voice is so unlike a standard media voice. Yum.

(Thinking I should log off and listen to Scott Simon now. . .)

haha leejay i heard that guy the other day, too, and decided to listen to the rest of his sermon. (tho i was picturing ewan mcgreggor.) imho the scottish are way underrepresented on the radio.

A friend of mine has a serious thing for Roxanne Roberts.

I have a thing for the Scottish also ... really having trouble deciding if I could sit through a sermon, even for "Ewan McGregor." I'll just have to watch his show on polar bears again instead to get my fix.
