Oakland Metafilter meetup argh!→[More:]so for once I'm instumental in setting up a metafilter meetup and I get home and discover some jerk has broken into my apartment and stolen my credit cards and nothing else that I can tell. It's a mess but it's the same mess it was when I left. So now I'm late to the meet up because I'm waiting for the cops. Argh!

That SUCKS. That's all there is to say about that.

On the other hand, you'll have a great conversation starter at the meetup, and they could have taken much more important stuff that you'd probably miss more. So keep in perspective.

Are you OK with staying at your place tonight and all?

yeah, I'm fine- thanks. I went to the meetup and now I'm wy too drunk to be typing. But courtesy of a very strong denial instinct I think sleeping will be no problem. And I got totally lucky- they didn't take the computer and they didn't take my gun... all sorts of things they could have taken and didn't. Maybe they didn't want to try to climb out the window with it. And the pistol was buried so they wouldn't have found it without digging.
