Normally I think selling your art is fine, but... I have to say, this weirded me out a bit. Keith Haring stencils at Home Depot?→[More:] I am really of the mind that any musician who wants to sell a song is okay by me, although I am a little surprised when Iggy's ode to heroin addition sells a Buick (I can't recall which car company it was actually...)

But something as cool as Keith Haring's stuff sold at Home Depot is weird man...

it's ok--it's actually subversive, sorta, for people to hang them all over their houses. (and for many, he was proto-kawaii/superflat anyway)

It weirds me out a bit too, richat. I think it's the picture on that page of the lovely young straighter than straight suburban couple in their lovely suburban home - with Keith Haring smack dab right there on the wall.

Well, yeah, I know that it's not all bad, and I think I know what matildaben means. His stuff IS very iconic and has a very "graphic design" sorta vibe I think. The glowing babies image is ideally suited to a nursery I think.

It's just weird to see something sorta cool at Home Depot. I am not trying to say it's wrong or anything, just weird.

It's hard to call Haring's work co-opted--he took an active role in merchandising himself and was, according to interviews and whatnot anyway, totally cool with it.

Then again, maybe he fell in with some bad influences.
