That would be a laugh, I can't imagine the S1Ws would still be around. I don't even know if Terminator X is still spinning for them.
Tickets are still available, BTW. Jon - PE is awesome live. And it's in a pretty small club.
king's is a fun place, but the last time I was there (I refuse to say for whom. too embarassing.) it was everyone sitting at dinner tables, eating during the show, which sort of feels non-hip-hop to me.
Yeah, I noticed that in the link, shmegegge. My experience was all metal detectors and pat downs and sweat and jumping around. He, gettin' old, gettin' old.
Well, the hardcore rappers and punks of our generation are getting older now, and so are they're audience. They have day jobs and brunch dates and lower back pain now. They're starting to turn into the classic rock fossils they once mocked.
The best show I've ever seen was PE at the old 9:30, a very small venue, in DC right after Nation of Millions came out. Swiz opened up for them, one of my favorite harD.C.ore bands, and one of the several from DC with a black lead singer. Falv's 3 year old daughter came on stage and danced, and Chuck D slapped hands with me and drenched me with sweat more than once. It was, literally, awesome.
Yeah, i remember that show omie, I missed it. I almost mentioned it earlier. PE was so cool in that they consciously were trying to bring outsiders into their music, and shows like that are an example. Also brings to mind the Fugazi/Troublefunk shows at the 9:30. God I loved that space. RIP.
The one BB King's show I went to was like any other - a bunch of people watching a band.
Where the heck was the PE/Primus show I saw in DC? The place seemed to large for 9:30 and the stage was on the wrong side of the venue. It certainly wasn't Trax, of course. . .gah. . .brain cells. . .
while I'm chatting with a Richmonder - Rainbaby, do you know of SliangLaos (YouTube link)? Not sure how long you've been in Richmond. They were around from about '89-'96. Just curious, I was a big fan.
