Saw a spider, either a brown recluse or a look-alike, wandering along the baseboard.

Hit at it with my shoe. Missed. It went behind the entertainment center. I pulled it out. Did not see the spider. Looked and looked and looked. Finally found it IN the entertainment center near the bottom of a shelf.

Had I not found it, I would not have slept a wink tonight. Gah. EVIL RECLUSES.

I have an arrangement with spiders: they're welcome to try to kill me when I'm in their world, and I'm free to kill them when they're in mine.

I live in fear of them getting organized.

What cmonkey said. However, if they're in my space, I'll capture them in a tiny Tupperware dish (with lid!) and set them free outside. Then wash the dish until it bleeds.

A buddy of mine breeds exotic snakes, and currently keeps about a hundred of them in his basement. He works with big reptiles at the zoo, animals that could take his hand off if he isn't wary, and the thought of spiders makes him nauseous.
