No more tabs at Dylanchords aka My Back Pages
In the light of the American Music Publishers' Association (MPA)'s rattling of sabres against tab sites, I've decided to take the potentially offensive parts of the site down – temporarily...
I didn't realize that all the fan tab sites are being taken down. This is really sad news.
This is heartbreaking--Eyolf Østrem's tabs were the most complete and accurate there were--if there were multiple recordings, he did multiple tabs and the essays on the songs were a delight. It was the bestest fan tab site ever, a real labor of love.

I would make a post on MetaFilter about this but...

I just found out some good news: Chris Barnes has put up a mirror of of My Back Pages in it's former glory. And, wait there's more...

But I won't tell you what. You'll have to go there and figure it out. But mum's the word, pal. spill not the beans via keystrokes...

*winks, nods*

Because, you know, it hurts music sales when people strain to learn how to play certain songs.

I mean, it's not like there are any tabs out there that say "listen to the CD and you'll get the rhythm." Ha! If only that were so the record companies would LOVE tab sites.

First it was the player pianos, now this. Will this onslaught against music publishers ever cease?

Yeah, I'm confused.

Well, this is what artists like Dylan want, for people to never ever ever play their songs.

But, you know, this is the shortsightness that is the hallmark of the music industry. "People are posting tabs of songs they like for free on the internet, possibly cutting in to sales of our ludicrously overpriced tab books!"

Why do I always know the Dylan tab posts are from you without looking Karl?

You must be psychic.
