28 April 2006

Hello, Toronto! Looks like I'll be back in the ol' hometown at the end of June. Anyone want to get together for drinks and foolishness?
...failing that, any recommendations for good pubs/restaurants/bars/patios? It's been a loooong time since I had more than a day to spend there, so a lot of the places I loved have closed or may have changed for the worse. The only places on my itinerary at the moment are the Bovine Sex Club, the Epicurean restaurant, and possibly the Black Bull patio.

I'm in, pending the date, but I'll need reminding closer to the event.

June is all about patios. I'm a big fan of the patio at The Victory Cafe near Bloor and Bathrust, and the roof top patio at The Pilot near Yonge and Cumberland (although that place is a bit pricey due to it's area).

I'd like to go. My visits here are a little sporadic, so if someone would send me an email closer to the date I'd be way more likely to come.

Capn and Orange Swan? I feel like the belle of the ball! I'll send y'all a reminder closer to the date.

(Oh, and Capn--how could I forget the Pilot? I used to work around the corner from there, and we'd take turns sneaking out for a 'break'. Don't know if they still have the big paper & balsa biplane models, but we gave those to them. It wasn't too pricey then, though.)

Sounds like a fun meetup. Too bad I'm a continent away.

What is the Bovine Sex Club? No way I'm googling that while at work!

When I lived in Toronto, the Pilot was a dive holdout, kind of a disgrace to the neighbourhood.

My brother and I used the Pilot as the launch pad for our annual Christmas Chopping excursion, in which we'd buy all our presents in one heroic debauch and then get on the overnight train to Montreal.

I sure hope it hasn't gone upscale.
