26 April 2006

Well, I'm home. [More:]
We had horrific thunderstorms last night, leading to a three-approach landing, after which the passengers applauded the pilot for not allowing us all to die in a pretty fireball. Those are my favorite. For a minute there, I was convinced we were going to divert to Richmond; it was that bad. I even lamented that I didn't have rainbaby's phone number.

The rest of the trip was kind of a push; I made one bad play and had one bad beat and lost $400 Monday night. Luckily I was able to make most of it back Tuesday before heading to the airport. Vegas poker tip: 48 hours is not long enough to allow for swings! I'm still up almost $500, though, so the trip was a success, and now I have some summer travel money. It's a good thing the room was free.

I'm exhausted and glad to be home in one piece. So, um, hi!
So, did you marry anybody?

Yes, but it didn't work out.

I always worry about my friends when they're on a plane, so I was really glad that you answered my text message right away when you got in last night. Welcome back!

And you are a sweetheart for worrying! I almost died! Would you guys have a MetaChat funeral for me? Who'd say the eulogy? That's an FPP idea right there, folks!

Let's just say I wouldn't have wanted to be the one to break the news to Metachat.

That is really funny. I love the wit of this place, and you two especially. Glad you are home safe and didn't pull a "Buddy Holly-Big Bopper-Ritchie Valens" Mike!

I really really really want to have a virtual funeral for someone now, after seeing that virtual World of Warcraft PvP funeral that got crashed by the Serenity Now clan (I love how it sounds like I actually know what I'm talking about) so can we have a funeral for you anyway? Because it would be really fun to pick out the music which would accompany it (paging jonmc and matildaben, who both happen to already be here). And hopefully while we're mourning some warring clans (9622.net maybe...) will try to crash the funeral and kill all of us. That would be great.

(backstory)

Uh were there any snakes on the plane? Sorry, had to ask.

We could have a memorial thread where we all agree to post . and then people from Monkeyfilter could come along and start posting images of monkeys pulling faces. And then we could all start flaming out. It'd be cool.

(oddly iconomy, I've occasionally considered faking my own death and having someone post it to MeTa, just for the thrill of seeing people who openly despise me post mourning messages)

iconomy! Welcome back!

Viva Las Mike! How many Elvises did you see? (I only saw one when I was there. At the pool. He wore a red speedo and wouldn't get his hair wet.)

Exactly, I already have a MICE! ::makes googly eyes at gaspode::

I could use a MICE, too. Nobody lives near me, which makes it tougher.

I don't think distance really matters- the whole point of a MICE is that they'll be called to let everyone else on MetaChat know that something bad has happened to you.

Glad you got home safely and a winner to boot.

Looking forward to September!

Ugh that sounds like a barf inducing flight, mike. Glad you made it back in one piece. MayI suggest Bringing Down the House as prerequisite reading material for the next trip?

Anyone looking for a MICE is welcome to e-mail me.
