Now, that's not what I was expecting.

Very cool. The images remind me of those from the homemade cameras a guy made from an old flatbed scanner (metafilter thread. Unfortunately it looks like his site's been permanently slashdotted). In both cases the camera is moving while the subject may or may not be moving relative to it, which gives interesting effects.
