A few of you know of my mini-crush [More:] on Laura Branigan. Today, at the Friends of the Ithaca Library book sale, I picked up an autographed copy of her album Self Control for two dollars. It's autographed to "Debbie," but hey, it's something signed by the late chanteuse herself.

Here's the video for the titular single from the album, and the story behind the song.

Laura, lovely Laura, maybe in another lifetime? (you'll have to get in line behind mgl, though). Thanks for the music, babe.
Oh, and I also got a 7' × ??' (haven't measured it, but it's taller than I am) map of the former Sovjet Union for ONE DOLLAR. And it's a nice canvas-type map; very durable. Don't ask me why I have a fascination with relics from the fall of Communism (maybe because I was raised under Reagan), but I do and I love it and I may get it framed and hang it on my wall. When I have money.

I remember playing that album to death back in high school. Good find, Eide.
