21 April 2006

Photo Friday 21 April! "Cheers, photos of making, drinking, toasting with, whatever, your beverage of choice," from taz! (I say anything goes, though, as long as it has a beverage in the pic. People just don't abuse these photo threads enough. And where is all teh photoshopping?)
Not abuse, and not clever. I am hanging my head in shame, honest.

I drink Gatorade every single day. It's a carryover from when I actually worked out constantly in school. I buy the 9-gallon tubs of powder at the warehouse store. It's my coffee and my soda. I usually go through a gallon every 36 hours or so.

I do wonder sometimes about the sodium content - it was created to replace the sodium and potassium that you lose when you sweat. But my cholesterol is looking good so I'm not tooooo worried. Yet.

Here are my beverage pics, sadly impoverished by a recent recycling.

And catch-up: My childhood toys pics.

My ownedart pics, including a great piece by a MeChaBunny. (Also, books are art, obviously.)

I already used this photo in another thread, but it fits the bill here (and I forgot to take a new one). Some friends bought me the ginormous margarita for my birthday last December.

Whoa, that thing's bigger than you are!

Mike, sodium has no effect on cholesterol. A relatively small subset of people are can have salt-sensitive high blood pressure. Gatorade doesn't really have much salt or potassium relative to it's volume. I'd be more worried about the acid on your teeth.

Huh. When I had high cholesterol a few years back, the doc recommended a cut-back-on-sodium diet.

I did replace about half my Gatorade consumption with water last year when I was working on losing weight, and I've managed to keep that going.

I suppose it's better than coffee or soda, but I will continue to work on it.

Whoa, weird story about the poster, omiewise. You were fated to have it!

I think I introduced you folks to Bernardo, my Maurice Sendak friend, companion, and expression of my inner self.

I took a really good photo last night but forgot to upload it. It's of an empty bottle of Talisker and an empty whisky glass. Title: "This Is Sad."
...and here is Bernardo's bro Moishe, if you're interested.

That's wild, shane (and very cute).

Some of you have seen this meetup photo before.

Then there's this one.

This one's from mudpuppie, but I mixed the drink. She also took this one of me holding a drink.

First, matildaben is adorable.

Strangely enough, I have quite a few pictures with my favorite drinks.

This is all
I really have access to at the moment. It wasn't my camera and the pixelation on Flickr is terrible.

That said, the straws are classy and the drink is one of my favs (Stoli & Tonic with a Lemon -- Never Lime!).

Black coffee is my beverage of choice. And when I'm at the computer I'm either drinking coffee, or sparkling water, for which I use the big green glass tankard (impossible to knock it over).

I'm just about to have coffee now, and, thanks to Matildaben, also one of
these
.

Or maybe two.

Here is a photo taken at my wedding which fits the theme nicely:

And two photos from a trip last year to Boston to have a reunion of old friends (some of whom I saw last weekend in Baltimore). When we are together we act about 10 years younger than we actually are, hence jager bombs and then tequila shots.

I'm a coffee fiend too, but sometimes I don't keep up with cleaning my cups,
resulting in things like this beautiful petrified mix of coffee and cocoa:

I'm going to cheat. Here's one of my favorite bar pics, taken by goatdog last November:

That pic was taken about 15 years before I quit. I remember it wasn't even 10.30am and already I'm doing that 'close one eye so I can see' thing. And as you can see, I had my two best buddies with me.

I just realized I have another picture on flickr of myself boozing. For those who can't get enough.
posted by amro 21 April | 13:30
Eamon, that picture makes it look like I was the designated driver. I'll point out, though, that most of the empty mugs me3dia is holding were mine, I think.

I thought about taking a picture of my recycling bin for this theme, but then I realized it would just be a depressing reminder of the fact that I drink too much.

There will be offerings from the NYC ladies at the tapas bar tonight. This is why I bring my camera to these thingies.

Now if I can only remember to take pictures...

In the foreground is my Teenage Fanclub mug that I bought at one of their gigs. For some reason the Teenage Fanclub knuckle-dusters didn't sell so well. That had a nice cup of tea in it - milk, no sugar thanks.

Behind that is a Carlsberg pint glass I stole from a local pub and it's full of orange squash. I love orange squash but it must be sugar free. Sure, the artificial sweetner might give me cancer but at least my corpse will have a full set of gnashers.
